Job Description
High Voltage Transmission Electrical Engineer with expertise in HVDC systems and cable design at AECOM. Focus on engineering support, feasibility studies, and system analysis to deliver impactful infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities:
- Engineering support for HVDC terrestrial and submarine cable systems and converter stations
- Supporting HVDC cable routing and converter station feasibility studies
- Providing technical support input during the project permitting phase
- Preparation of conceptual level engineering documents
- Working with Project Engineer and Project Manager on developing design schedules and budgets for electrical engineering work activities
- Supporting clients with utility interface and technical coordination
- Power system studies (load flow, short circuit, protective coordination, arc flash analysis)
- PSCAD model development and analysis
- Preparation of one line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, BOMs, wire schedule, interconnection diagrams
- Field experience including witnessing testing of HVDC equipment and systems
- Developing construction and equipment specifications
- Supporting projects during construction, start-up, and commissioning as needed
- Grounding Analysis and Design
- Reviewing engineering work performed by peers
- Attending client meetings
- Assisting in the promotion of AECOM's capabilities while maintaining existing client base
- Providing specialized technical input to studies and design
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering
- 6 years of relevant HVAC experience
- HVDC experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Leadership experience
- Masters degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred)
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Electrical Engineering (preferred)
- 10+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education (preferred)
- Experience with FACTS Power systems analysis software (preferred)
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE)
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Experience on full EPC, Design/Build projects from start to finish (preferred)
- Plant Startup and Commissioning Field Experience (preferred)
- Owner’s Engineering experience (preferred)
- Experience working with remote team (preferred)
