Job Description
Home-based caseworker supporting children and families across Anderson and Madison County. Connecting families to resources, building life skills, and improving stability through individualized services.
Responsibilities:
- Assess the needs of children and families and establish short- and long-term goals
- Connect families to housing, employment, social services, and other community resources
- Provide mentorship, advocacy, and support
- Help families develop life skills, coping skills, healthy relationships, budgeting, parenting, and problem-solving strategies
- Create and maintain safety and treatment plans in Case Management Pro
- Document sessions, case notes, and reports within required timelines
- Monitor and address safety concerns and provide crisis intervention
- Document use of evidence-based practices such as Motivational Interviewing
- Ensure client understanding and compliance with program expectations and handbook
- Maintain communication with clients and team members
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and supervision
- Adhere to agency policies, confidentiality standards, and DCS requirements
- Deliver services in homes and community settings, with frequent local travel and virtual communication
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field preferred
- Alternatively, high school diploma, GED, or Associate's degree with at least 4 years of direct casework services experience with children and families
- Experience working with children and families preferred
- Home-based, child welfare, or community-based experience strongly preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build rapport and engage families
- Crisis management and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in community-based settings
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
- Understanding of trauma-informed and strength-based approaches
- At least 21 years of age
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
- Ability to pass background checks and required clearances
- CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Must be trained and competent in required evidence-based practices
