Job Description
Java engineering lead building secure, scalable software for Tiko, an African nonprofit expanding adolescent health services. Leading backend engineers and maintaining its platform.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the individuals in your team
- Maintain and develop new features on the software platform
- Participate in agile rituals and practices
- Coordinate the work of the software engineering team
- Apply software engineering principles to software design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation
- Ensure developed software is secure and complies with data protection requirements
- Document work clearly and understandably for future use
Requirements:
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience focused on JVM languages
- 3+ years of formal leadership experience managing a team of Java backend engineers, including responsibility for conducting team performance reviews
- Experience within Microservices and AWS
- Extensive experience working with the Spring framework and various other Java backend tools and frameworks
- Experience or knowledge of Salesforce CRM would be a plus
- Experience building software from the ground up
- Desire to build scalable systems with quality
- Based in Kenya
- Excellent English skills
