Job Description
Lactation Consultant providing lactation consultation and education services for patients at Sutter Health. Responsibilities include evaluating lactation problems and managing patient education on breastfeeding.
Responsibilities:
- Overall coordination, planning and management of patient and family education related to breastfeeding.
- Providing lactation consultation and education services.
- Breastfeeding assistance, support and education to patients.
- Hands-on lactation consultation services on an outpatient and inpatient basis.
- Evaluating specific lactation problems by telephone and developing a management and follow-up plan of care when indicated.
- Responsible for maintaining a pump rental station, supplies, and equipment related to the service.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- IBLCE-Certified Lactation Consultant (certification may be required by entity and time to acquire dependent on qualifications for exam)
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
- 2 years recent relevant experience
- Maternal-infant assessment skills.
- Organizational skills with ability to prioritize, problem solve and meet deadlines.
- Interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage own time and schedule own tasks.
- Written and verbal communication and problem solving skills.
