Job Description
Lead Java Consultant building scalable Java backend systems for CodeRoad, a technology execution partner. Owning stakeholder discovery, architecture, implementation, and delivery of distributed solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Engage directly with business stakeholders to translate open-ended business needs into concrete technical features
- Define requirements and edge cases from ground zero
- Act as a proactive technical advisor, challenging assumptions and proposing improvements
- Articulate architectural trade-offs to technical leadership and non-technical stakeholders
- Design, deploy, and maintain resilient microservices, RESTful/GraphQL APIs, and relational database schemas
- Optimize database queries, Redis caching strategies, and Apache Kafka event-driven messaging pipelines
- Support high-volume real-time data synchronization and e-commerce workflows
- Integrate AI coding tools into daily development workflows
- Own features end-to-end from discovery through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational health
Requirements:
- 5+ years of senior/lead backend engineering experience
- Demonstrated track record building enterprise distributed systems
- Ability to digest complex business logic in real time, ask the right questions, and articulate clear technical solutions
- Deep proficiency with Java 17/21/25
- Proficiency with Spring Framework / Spring Boot
- Proficiency with Hibernate/EF ORMs
- Experience with relational databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL
- Experience with Redis and Apache Kafka
- Mandatory verbal and written fluency in English
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical business partners
- Solid understanding of microservice design patterns
- Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Forward-thinking approach to using AI tools
