Job Description
Senior Backend Engineer building Python/Django platforms for Kraken’s global energy technology. Designing reliable systems that help utilities modernize renewable generation and customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Build robust, fault-tolerant software using Python, Django, GraphQL, Celery, and PostgreSQL
- Apply architectural knowledge to solve complex domain-modeling challenges
- Drive large milestones, direction, cadence, and technical trade-offs
- Connect the team with related teams on cross-functional projects
- Communicate technical points clearly to stakeholders across technical-literacy levels
- Set engineering standards through code and actions
- Ensure features and rollouts are thoroughly documented
- Sponsor and mentor engineers
- Collaborate on technology that optimizes renewable generation, improves grid intelligence, and helps utilities deliver exceptional customer experiences
Requirements:
- Strong engineering skills with ability to make cross-team and organizational impacts
- Python and Django (or equivalent web framework)
- Domain modeling and architectural design
- GraphQL
- Writing robust and fault-tolerant software
- Celery and asynchronous processing
- PostgreSQL
- AWS, Terraform, and Kubernetes are bonus qualifications
- Experience with one or more frontend frameworks is a bonus
- Must have the right to work in Japan at the time of application
- Visa sponsorship is unavailable
- English and Japanese language proficiency must be provided in the application
