Job Description
Manufacturing technologist and architect designing secure, scalable IIoT solutions for Illumination Works’ data and digital-transformation clients. Leading ThingWorx, AWS, OT connectivity, cybersecurity, and technical mentoring across government sites.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a liaison to key stakeholders, communicating technical recommendations and driving enhancements to ensure IIoT systems remain scalable, secure, and highly available
- Collaborate with and mentor junior team members in network and security troubleshooting, Kepware and IIoT/OT connectivity, PTC ThingWorx configuration and development
- Install and configure software, applications and infrastructure in AWS Outpost, on-premise VMs and AWS Cloud environments
- Design and implement cyber protection best practices and configurations aligned to NIST 800-53 R5
- Oversee development and hosting of training programs for government personnel on configuration and maintenance of IIoT environments
- Develop and/or approve PTC ThingWorx model designs promoting commonality among machine tools and standardization of metrics
- Design solutions that scale for high-volume time-series data ingestion and retrieval integrating with AWS and PTC ThingWorx
- Coordinate onboarding of new OT equipment with project managers to align with customer expectations and timelines
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a hands-on technologist and technology strategist/solution architect or similar role in a technology-driven environment
- Demonstrated leadership experience in manufacturing, ideally within large enterprise or industrial-scale operations
- Strong knowledge of IoT technologies and standards
- Ability to lead technical execution of IIoT/OT connectivity and PTC ThingWorx implementation across multiple sites
- Expertise in cloud platforms, AWS preferred
- Experience with multiple programming languages, especially Java and JavaScript
- Proficiency designing and implementing application architectures and integrations
- Experience with Git-based source control and pull requests for feature-based development
- Understanding of data management and analytics
- Experience with Agile development methodologies
- Ability to mentor junior team members and lead technical discussions
- 8+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years in a leadership position
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or comparable academic discipline
- Must have or be willing to obtain Secret Clearance; this requires US Citizenship
- Must successfully pass a drug test and background screen
- Willingness to travel up to once a month to Tinker, Hill, or Robins Air Force Base
- PTC ThingWorx experience
- Experience with serverless architecture and cloud-native applications
- Knowledge of machine learning and AI integration in IIoT solutions
- Experience with security best practices for cloud and IIoT applications
- Understanding of industry-specific IIoT regulations and compliance standards
- Experience with microservices architecture and containerization, including Docker and Kubernetes
