Job Description
Network Operations Engineer monitoring and troubleshooting enterprise networks for Black Mountain Dynamics’ autonomous-mobility client. Supporting incidents, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, deployments, and high-bandwidth critical facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor Data Dog dashboards and network monitoring tools, investigate alerts, and determine root cause
- Review network health, performance graphs, and capacity trends to identify and resolve degradations
- Build and refine Data Dog dashboards, alerts, and monitors
- Diagnose and resolve network issues involving firewalls, wireless connectivity, and circuit outages using CLI, vendor controllers, and monitoring data
- Work ServiceNow incidents and requests end-to-end, maintaining clear technical notes
- Participate in P1/P0 major-incident bridges and execute diagnostic and remediation steps
- Escalate issues to vendors, carriers, or senior engineers and manage communications through resolution
- Troubleshoot and maintain Palo Alto Networks firewalls with Strata
- Support and troubleshoot the Ruckus R1 wireless environment
- Troubleshoot switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless controllers across multiple vendors
- Maintain high-performance pipelines supporting large-scale data ingress and egress
- Provide network support in critical facilities, accounting for power, cooling, and structured-cabling constraints
- Monitor and stabilize newly deployed infrastructure during hypercare and site/network acceptance
- Execute MOPs for installing, staging, and upgrading firewalls, core switches, wireless access points, and UPS systems
- Submit and execute ServiceNow changes and document steps and results
- Use and improve runbooks, configuration baselines, and troubleshooting playbooks
Requirements:
- 4+ years of hands-on network engineering or NOC engineering experience in a high-availability enterprise environment
- Strong hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting multi-vendor network devices via CLI and cloud-managed controllers
- Experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls
- Working proficiency with Data Dog or a comparable network/infrastructure monitoring and alerting platform
- Experience building dashboards, tuning alerts, and using telemetry for troubleshooting
- Practical experience with ServiceNow or a comparable ITSM platform for tickets, changes, and problems
- Ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex network issues under time pressure
- Clear written communication for ticket notes, incident updates, and shift handoffs
- Familiarity with scripting or automation such as Python or Ansible preferred
- Working knowledge of BGP peering, OSPF, EVPN-VXLAN, and stateful firewall policy preferred
- Experience in data center, fleet, mission-critical, autonomous, or high-technology environments preferred
- Experience as an embedded contractor or through an MSP relationship preferred
- B.S. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience preferred
- Certifications such as PCNSA/PCNSE, CCNA/CCNP, CWNA, or ITIL Foundation are a strong plus
- Must be legally able to work in the United States
- Must answer whether employment visa sponsorship is required now or in the future
