Job Description
Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer maintaining Akamai’s global data centers, networks, and servers. Supporting the cloud and edge platform through hardware deployment, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee operations in global data centers
- Monitor and maintain data centers, networks, and servers worldwide
- Interact directly with data center Network Operations Centers via phone, email, and web portals
- Deploy and repair servers, storage systems, routers, switches, and other hardware
- Install hardware, cabling, firmware, and software both on-site and remotely
- Manage hardware decommission projects, including hardware disposal and data destruction
- Ship and receive networking equipment to maintain network availability and reliability
- Perform project work for data center migrations and hardware platform upgrades
- Coordinate data center deployments from hardware requests to rack design
Requirements:
- 8 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience in a NOC environment with hands-on hardware experience
- Knowledge of computer hardware and networking equipment
- Solid troubleshooting skills in a large-scale data center environment
- Understanding of Linux system administration, server administration, and internals
- Professional problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
