Job Description

Personal financial counselor supporting military families through counseling, spending plans, and financial education. Providing coverage for military assignments and deployment-related needs in North Dakota.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide coverage in short-term, surge, and on-demand situations resulting from military needs
  • Provide personal financial counseling and management services to military service members and their families at military installations
  • Conduct one-on-one counseling and consultations with commanders, providers, and staff
  • Conduct briefings, presentations, classes, seminars, and workshops on personal financial management
  • Provide referral resources outside counseling sessions
  • Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences
  • Develop and distribute informational financial materials
  • Coordinate and publicize Personal Financial Management classes and workshops across the military lifecycle
  • Provide age-appropriate classes and seminars upon request
  • Use virtual counseling and secure electronic communication methods when authorized
  • Manage duty-to-warn situations according to Department of Defense protocol
  • Communicate with leadership and participate in individual and group supervision
  • Share trends and issues affecting assigned installations
  • Participate in in-services, training, quality improvement committees, and other contract activities
  • Comply with security responsibilities, controls, legal, regulatory, contractual, and internal policy requirements
  • Perform other assigned duties

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Alternatively, an associate degree plus 4 years' experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree
  • Alternatively, a high school diploma plus 6 years' experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of financial counseling experience
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must speak fluent English
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish if required by the contract
  • Must be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation
  • Must be able to pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process
  • Must hold one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
  • Valid in-state driver's license
