Job Description
Addiction Medicine Provider delivering virtual medication-assisted treatment for underserved patients. Managing addiction care, prescriptions, assessments, and follow-up through Telehealth.
Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing management of patients seeking MAT for opioid or alcohol use disorder through Telehealth
- Prescribe and monitor MAT medications, including oral and injectable buprenorphine and naltrexone
- Conduct medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations
- Collaborate with physicians, counselors, peer workers, and other healthcare providers on individualized treatment plans
- Educate patients about substance use disorder, MAT, lifestyle changes, coping mechanisms, and return-to-use prevention
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
- Coordinate care for comorbid conditions
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records for patient encounters, treatment plans, and medication management
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, MAT guidelines, HIPAA, and controlled-substance documentation requirements
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation when necessary
- Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts
Requirements:
- Master's or Doctoral degree in nursing (APRN), physician assistant (PA), or other related field
- Active, unrestricted state license as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
- Board Certification
- Active DEA registration status
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience
- At least 0.5 years in addiction medicine, specifically in MAT clinics
- In-depth knowledge of MAT protocols, medications, and treatment for opioid, stimulant, benzodiazepine, and alcohol use disorders
- Experience with behavioral health and counseling approaches is a plus
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with healthcare teams
- Understanding of regulatory compliance and documentation requirements in MAT settings
- Strong Telehealth background
- Certified Nurse Practitioner or PA certification
- License to practice in New Mexico
