Job Description
Principal Engineer architecting SGS’s customer-facing products and shared engineering platform. Building full-stack systems with React, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and observability.
Responsibilities:
- Architect and personally ship critical customer-facing product surfaces
- Own frontend architecture, backend services, and infrastructure decisions
- Write code across frontend, backend, and infrastructure layers
- Shape the platform, including CI/CD, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, and observability
- Turn successful work into shared components, services, architectural patterns, design-system extensions, and platform building blocks
- Mentor senior engineers
- Lead architecture conversations
- Remove engineering friction to improve team velocity and safety
- Partner with Product and Design to deliver user-focused interfaces
Requirements:
- Expert-level React/TypeScript on the frontend
- Deep experience building distributed backends in Go, Python, or TypeScript
- Hands-on, architectural-level experience with GCP or AWS and Terraform
- Strong knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with GitHub Actions or GitLab CI
- Proven track record designing scalable, resilient, and observable distributed cloud-native systems
- Experience partnering with Product and Design to ship user-focused interfaces
- Practical experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and Jaeger
- Experience with scalable testing strategies
- 10+ years of experience with strong backgrounds in product engineering and platform/SRE work
