Job Description
QA Automation Engineer improving CTERA’s cloud storage product quality through Java API automation, Playwright UI testing, and QA infrastructure. Maintaining Jenkins suites and the QA Cloud Agent.
Responsibilities:
- Own the quality of covered product areas from test strategy and planning through release sign-off
- Create test plans for new features, defining scope, risks, test coverage, integration coverage, automation coverage, and exit criteria
- Design, build, and maintain automated tests using Java for API automation and Playwright for UI automation
- Build and maintain QA infrastructure, test environments, and automation frameworks
- Develop and maintain the QA Cloud Agent
- Validate and maintain automated test suites running in Jenkins, including nightly, smoke, sanity, development, and patch suites
- Investigate test failures and determine whether the root cause is a product defect, automation issue, or environment problem
- Troubleshoot issues using logs and tools across Linux, SSH, and networking environments
- Execute end-to-end and upgrade testing when required
- Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and team leads to define quality expectations and resolve issues
- Use AI tools to improve test development, troubleshooting, automation, and day-to-day engineering workflows
Requirements:
- Up to 4 years of experience in Software QA / Quality Assurance
- Hands-on experience with test automation
- Familiarity with modern AI tools and ability and willingness to incorporate them into daily engineering workflow
- Experience with Java-based API automation
- Experience with Playwright, Selenium, or a similar UI automation framework
- Experience with Jenkins or another CI/CD system, including investigating failures through logs and troubleshooting
- Experience contributing to or creating test plans for new features
- Knowledge of Linux, SSH, and networking, with ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Clear written and verbal English communication skills
- Strong team player who enjoys working collaboratively
- Curious mindset and strong desire to learn new technologies, tools, and methodologies
- Proactive approach and willingness to take ownership and solve problems
- Nice to have: Experience testing upgrades, database migrations, or multi-server systems
- Nice to have: Familiarity with Kubernetes and/or other container orchestration technologies
- Nice to have: Familiarity with Nomad, Consul, Envoy, Kafka, or S3-compatible storage
