Job Description

Scientific Affairs Manager supporting setmelanotide’s medical strategy for Rhythm Pharmaceuticals’ rare genetic obesity therapies in Germany. Building expert relationships, clinical-trial support, and compliant scientific exchange.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Scientific Affairs Manager for the respective territory in Germany
  • Develop and implement the Local Medical Affairs strategically aligned plan
  • Act as primary point of contact for German external experts and stakeholders
  • Conduct scientific exchanges with external experts and provide clinical, scientific, and medical education
  • Serve as a scientific peer-to-peer resource regarding medical information and setmelanotide
  • Map patient journeys, diagnosis, and therapeutic patterns
  • Build and develop relationships with relevant external experts
  • Establish local genetic testing initiatives with healthcare professionals and obesity treatment networks
  • Collaborate with Global Clinical Development and Operations on clinical trial investigators, investigator meetings, and advisory boards
  • Support clinical trial execution and address investigator needs
  • Triage clinical study issues for timely cross-functional resolution
  • Identify and educate referral sites and investigators to drive trial enrollment
  • Develop and implement a scientific communication plan for setmelanotide
  • Contribute to medical/scientific review of manuscripts and communication materials
  • Interpret scientific data and translate it to educational and research needs
  • Review scientific communication platforms, medical information resources, medical education materials, and marketing materials for German compliance
  • Provide input on medical colleague training initiatives and support informative medical deck design
  • Communicate the medical value of the asset internally and externally
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Regulatory, Drug Safety, Market Access, and Research & Development
  • Identify healthcare professional knowledge gaps and facilitate non-promotional scientific presentations
  • Participate in local medical and cross-functional initiatives and projects
  • Maintain compliant communication among internal stakeholders
  • Respond to unsolicited medical information requests with accurate, fair-balanced responses

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in a pharmaceutical, scientific, or medical field (PharmD, PhD, MD)
  • 8 or more years’ experience within a Medical Science Liaison or similar field-facing role, with primary emphasis on field-based scientific exchange within biopharmaceutical/rare disease areas strongly preferred
  • Relevant pharmaceutical and clinical/therapeutic experience considered
  • Superior communication skills and scientific acumen when presenting clinical and disease-state information to varied audiences
  • Fluent in the local language for Germany
  • Fluent in verbal and written English
  • Knowledge of regional/local healthcare systems, evolving medical landscape, reimbursement, and industry trends
  • Legally eligible to work in Germany
  • Currently residing in Germany
