Job Description

Scrum Master improving agile delivery for uMed, a clinical research technology platform. Facilitating ceremonies, removing impediments, and coaching product and engineering teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Enable one or more product and engineering teams to deliver work effectively through strong agile practices, facilitation, continuous improvement, and removal of delivery impediments
  • Own the team's agile delivery process and ways of working
  • Facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
  • Coach teams in agile principles and practices and improve agile maturity
  • Establish effective delivery practices including backlog refinement, estimation, technical design discussions, dependency management, and transparent delivery planning
  • Identify and remove blockers, escalating issues outside the team
  • Support sprint planning, capacity management, workflow monitoring, and sustainable delivery pace
  • Manage cross-team delivery dependencies and improve sprint predictability
  • Track retrospective actions and delivery metrics such as velocity, cycle time, sprint predictability, and flow
  • Identify recurring process challenges and address root causes with Product and Engineering leadership
  • Protect team focus and foster open, constructive discussion of risks and differing viewpoints
  • Encourage collaboration across Product, Engineering, and QA and support onboarding
  • Provide sprint and release updates, surface delivery risks, and maintain accurate Jira reporting
  • Provide visibility of upcoming changes to support operational readiness and product configuration activities

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Scrum Master supporting cross-functional software development teams
  • Demonstrated ability to improve team delivery effectiveness using Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid agile practices
  • Experience coaching cross-functional teams and improving agile maturity through practical guidance
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong experience using Jira or equivalent agile delivery tooling
  • Proactive problem-solving and ownership of removing delivery impediments
  • Pragmatic application of agile practices focused on delivery outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to challenge unhelpful behaviors constructively
  • Calm, organized, highly collaborative, and able to influence without direct authority
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn, delivery considerations in regulated healthcare or medtech
  • Recognized Scrum or Agile certification is desirable but not essential
  • Experience in a startup or scale-up environment is desirable
