Job Description

Senior Accountant overseeing compliance and audit processes in a fast-paced finance team at Tempo, a leading tech company.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded and deadlines are met.
  • Lead the preparation and coordination of internal and external audits, including liaising with auditors, preparing schedules, and resolving audit findings.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations and corporate policies. Assist with tax filings and work with external tax advisors as needed.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements in compliance with GAAP.
  • Manage the general ledger and ensure accuracy of all entries and account reconciliations.
  • Evaluate, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial reporting accuracy.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within accounting functions and propose solutions to enhance efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior accountants, reviewing their work and assisting in their professional development.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification required.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in audit or public accounting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, audit principles, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite or other ERP systems).
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
