Job Description

Senior Accountant managing financial operations for a remote SaaS platform. Overseeing accuracy in day-to-day accounting and enhancing review workflows for efficient financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the Pulse of Financial Review: You will take full ownership of the review of day-to-day accounting and liaising with stakeholders to ensure the right data flows into the books.
  • Eliminate the Month-End Crunch (Through Better Reviews): Your ability to ensure that transactions and reconciliations are reviewed on time and with high quality will directly shape our ability to close books faster — moving from firefighting at month-end to a smooth, predictable review cycle.
  • Architect the “Daily Cash & Balance Sheet Truth”: This role is central to unlocking real-time, reliable financial visibility — what you review and sign off on will be used by founders, leadership, and investors to make critical decisions.
  • Automate and Standardize the Review Layer: You’ll have a blank canvas to design efficient review workflows: checklists, exception tracking, and automation for reconciliations and review procedures.
  • Unblock the Strategy & Senior Accounting Team: By owning the review of the transactional layer with precision, you create leverage across the finance team — freeing up senior accountants and finance leaders to focus on complex accounting areas, strategic initiatives, and long-term planning.
  • Gatekeeper of Integrity & Controls: You’ll join a small team with outsized impact — your vigilance in reviewing expenses, provisions, and balance sheet reconciliations in your first 6–12 months will lay the foundation for a clean, well-documented, audit-ready General Ledger and a stronger internal control environment.

Requirements:

  • Deep experience in a fast-paced SaaS or tech company accounting environment, ideally within a GL / core accounting team.
  • Proven track record of improving, scaling, or optimizing accounting processes, including evaluating or using AI / automation in day-to-day accounting or review operations.
  • Strong communicator, collaborator, and builder with high ownership and the ability to work across distributed, cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and taking things from zero-to-one — you don’t just follow a process, you help design and refine it.
  • You bring both strategic thinking and roll-up-your-sleeves execution — equally comfortable designing a review checklist and diving into a tricky reconciliation.
  • You are fluent with VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and reconciliations, and you have a strong “tech curiosity” about how to:
  • reduce recurring manual review work,
  • improve the quality and consistency of reconciliations,
  • leverage AI, integrations, and automation to simplify accounting, documentation, and processes, and
  • prevent errors at source.
  • You view this role not as a destination, but as a bootcamp in mastering the operational and control fundamentals required to become a Controller or Finance Leader in the future — with a strong foundation in review, controls, and high-quality financial reporting.

Benefits:

  • Ownership from Day One: Whether you're an intern or a full-time teammate, you’ll own impactful projects, chart your growth, and collaborate with some of the best minds in the industry.
  • Limitless Opportunities: At Atlan, your growth has no boundaries. If you’re ready to take initiative, the sky’s the limit.
  • A Global Data Community: We’re deeply embedded in the modern data stack, contributing to open-source projects, sponsoring meet-ups, and empowering team members to grow through conferences and learning opportunities.
