Job Description
Senior Appian Developer modernizing complex enterprise applications and plugins for ICF, a global advisory and technology services provider. Leading Appian upgrades, integrations, Agile delivery, and emerging AI initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain complex Appian applications supporting enterprise business processes and operational workflows
- Lead remediation, conversion, and modernization efforts for custom Appian plugins
- Analyze legacy plugin implementations and recommend scalable modernization approaches
- Troubleshoot complex issues involving Appian applications, integrations, custom plugins, and infrastructure dependencies
- Collaborate with architects and technical leadership on solution approaches, development standards, and modernization strategies
- Support Appian platform upgrades and remediation across development, testing, and production environments
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to development teams
- Participate in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, code reviews, and implementation planning
- Develop and maintain reusable components, shared frameworks, and integration standards
- Support integrations involving APIs, web services, databases, and external enterprise systems
- Assist with performance optimization, scalability, and operational stability initiatives
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
- Collaborate with Scrum Masters, Business Analysts, QA teams, architects, and stakeholders
- Assist with technical estimation, release planning, dependency management, and risk identification
- Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of production or deployment issues
- Promote continuous improvement across development workflows, delivery processes, and technical standards
- Support modernization strategies and identify opportunities to improve maintainability, automation, and delivery efficiency
- Stay current on Appian updates, emerging technologies, and modernization best practices
- Support knowledge-sharing and mentoring across the Appian practice
- Provide guidance on emerging Appian AI capabilities and assist leadership in evaluating modernization opportunities
Requirements:
- 6+ years of professional software development experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- 4+ years of hands-on Appian development experience
- 4+ years of experience supporting Appian application development within Agile software delivery environments
- 4+ years of experience troubleshooting and supporting Appian applications in self-managed/on-premises Linux environments, including navigating Appian installations and reviewing application and server logs
- 4+ years of experience supporting complex integrations involving APIs, web services, databases, and external systems
- 4+ years of experience utilizing Git/GitLab and modern source control workflows
- US Citizenship or Green Card is required
- Must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance
- Must reside in the United States and perform the work in the United States
- Appian Certified Senior Developer or Appian Certified Lead Developer certification (preferred)
- Strong experience developing, maintaining, or modernizing custom Appian plugins using Java (preferred)
- Strong proficiency with SQL and relational database concepts (preferred)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, or containerized deployment approaches (preferred)
- Experience supporting AWS-hosted or cloud-native application environments (preferred)
- Strong experience with REST/SOAP integrations, API development, and enterprise integration patterns (preferred)
- Exposure to Appian AI capabilities, AI Skills, AI Copilot, AI Document Processing, AI Agents, or other emerging Appian platform features (preferred)
