Job Description

Senior Cloud Architect modernizing secure, scalable cloud platforms for Guild Mortgage, a home-financing company. Leading Azure architecture, DevSecOps, automation, and enterprise platform engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Design secure, scalable, resilient, and highly available cloud platform architectures
  • Translate enterprise architecture strategies into solution designs, reference architectures, reusable implementation patterns, and engineering standards
  • Develop technical architectures supporting cloud platform modernization and operational excellence
  • Participate in architecture reviews and provide technical guidance
  • Partner with engineering teams to modernize cloud platform capabilities
  • Design reusable cloud platform services, implementation patterns, and engineering frameworks
  • Evaluate cloud services, technologies, and engineering approaches for scalability, resiliency, security, automation, and cost optimization
  • Support cloud migration and modernization initiatives
  • Design and promote Infrastructure as Code, Configuration as Code, Pipeline as Code, and Policy as Code practices
  • Establish deployment templates, automation frameworks, and CI/CD implementation standards
  • Improve automation, deployment reliability, configuration management, and operational efficiency
  • Ensure alignment with governance, security, regulatory, compliance, and operational standards
  • Incorporate identity management, networking, resiliency, disaster recovery, observability, monitoring, logging, and operational readiness into designs
  • Identify implementation risks and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Provide technical leadership throughout solution design, implementation, deployment, and operational support
  • Mentor engineers and technical teams
  • Promote knowledge sharing through documentation, technical standards, design patterns, and best practices
  • Collaborate with architecture, engineering, operations, SRE, security, and delivery teams
  • Contribute to technology evaluations, proof-of-concept initiatives, architecture reviews, and platform improvement efforts
  • Document architectural decisions, implementation patterns, technical standards, and operational guidance
  • Provide architectural guidance, technical estimates, implementation recommendations, and risk assessments during project planning
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree directly related to the position or equivalent, preferred
  • Minimum five years of experience in cloud architecture and/or development
  • Minimum five years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise cloud platforms and cloud-native solutions
  • Experience architecting cloud solutions using Microsoft Azure or another enterprise public cloud provider
  • Experience designing secure, scalable, highly available cloud architectures supporting enterprise workloads
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and cloud platform engineering practices
  • Experience designing cloud security, identity, networking, resiliency, monitoring, logging, and disaster recovery capabilities
  • Experience evaluating cloud technologies and recommending implementation approaches
  • Experience partnering with engineering teams to modernize cloud platforms and establish reusable engineering standards
  • Experience with source control systems, Git-based workflows, and modern software development lifecycle practices
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments using GitLab, GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to communicate architectural concepts effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to work in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Wiki, collaborative cloud-based programs, and third-party software applications
  • Ability to travel 5–10%
