Job Description
Senior Data Engineer building Oracle-based reporting data layers and pipelines for CVS Health’s healthcare operations. Supporting near real-time business intelligence, production reliability, and data quality.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain near real-time reporting data layers for operational reporting and business intelligence
- Partner with business stakeholders, analysts, product teams, and fellow engineers to build scalable and reliable data solutions
- Perform data modeling, ETL/ELT development, performance optimization, production support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement
- Build, enhance, and support scalable data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and reporting datasets in Oracle and related data platforms
- Analyze and resolve production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement sustainable reliability improvements
- Develop automation and data processing solutions using Python or similar scripting languages
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Implement coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational support best practices
- Drive process improvements, performance enhancements, and operational efficiencies
Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience developing and supporting enterprise data engineering and reporting solutions using Oracle and relational database technologies
- 5+ years of experience in SQL, PL/SQL, data modeling, query optimization, and database performance tuning
- Experience building, enhancing, and supporting scalable data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and reporting datasets in Oracle and related data platforms
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting data quality, performance, and integration issues in production environments
- Experience developing automation and data processing solutions using Python or similar scripting languages
- Experience working with large and complex datasets while ensuring data accuracy, availability, and performance
- Experience collaborating with business stakeholders, product owners, analysts, architects, and engineering teams
- Experience implementing coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational support best practices
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements, performance enhancements, and operational efficiencies
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Preferred: Experience with Teradata, Snowflake, BigQuery, Azure, AWS, or GCP
- Preferred: Experience supporting healthcare, pharmacy benefit management (PBM), or specialty pharmacy data environments
- Preferred: Familiarity with real-time data integration, CDC, or event-driven data architectures
- Preferred: Experience with workflow orchestration and automation tools
- Preferred: Exposure to cloud migration initiatives and hybrid data architectures
- Preferred: Experience with monitoring, observability, and operational support best practices
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
