Job Description

Sr. Director of Engineering leading Mobility systems within WEX, focusing on SaaS and API payment solutions for fleets. Overseeing engineering strategy and team development.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, drive, and execute a long-term vision and strategy for the WEX Mobility subsystems
  • Define and implement a comprehensive architectural roadmap for the Mobility platform
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, empowerment, and continuous learning within the engineering teams
  • Continuously challenge the status quo and implement mechanisms to reduce time-to-market using evolving engineering approaches
  • Collaborate with other Mobility engineering teams to reuse development practices and components
  • Craft, lead, manage, and grow high-performance engineering leaders and teams
  • Hire, coach, promote, and retain high performers to achieve WEX goals
  • Drive effective monthly, weekly, and quarterly mechanisms to plan, execute, and audit workstreams
  • Partner with product and commercial leads to maintain a well-thought out roadmap and create clear and inter-dependent OKRs
  • Establish a robust and clear engineering roadmap to maintain clarity and motivation for the engineering team
  • Provide regular updates and insights to senior leadership on the challenges and opportunities within the Mobility domain

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • 15 years of experience in software engineering
  • 7 years of engineering management experience managing managers and ICs
  • Expertise in rapid development and deployment using cloud computing platforms such as AWS or Azure
  • Strong understanding of security and compliance requirements in cloud and data environments
  • Excellent leadership, team-building, and dynamic decision-making skills
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
