Job Description
Senior engineering director leading multiple teams building Capital One’s customer-facing applications, microservices, and cloud systems. Driving AWS delivery, scalable architectures, engineering practices, and talent development.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and grow multiple teams of product-focused software engineers
- Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers
- Partner with product managers to understand application capabilities and testing scenarios
- Continuously improve software engineering practices
- Design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across full-stack development tools and technologies within and across Agile teams
- Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions
- Stay current with technology trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, and participate in internal and external technology communities
- Mentor members of the engineering community
- Encourage innovation, cutting-edge technology adoption, inclusion, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
- Improve the velocity of own and other teams
- Lead deployment of new and existing applications into AWS environments
- Decompose monolithic applications into microservice architectures and build new microservices
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 9 years’ experience in software development
- At least 7 years’ experience in people management
- Preferred: Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
- Preferred: 13+ years’ experience in software development
- Preferred: 8+ years’ experience in Agile practices
- Experience with technologies including Node.js, Java, Go, AngularJS, React, Python, REST, JSON, XML, Ruby, Perl, NoSQL databases, relational databases, Hadoop, Chef, Maven, iOS, Android, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure
