Job Description
Senior Gameplay Animator creating gameplay animations for PlayStation games at Insomniac Games. Collaborating across design, programming, art, and technical teams to implement polished character animation.
Responsibilities:
- Develop high-quality gameplay animations for characters aligned with artistic direction and technical standards
- Collaborate with Designers and Programmers to implement animations in the game engine using Maya and proprietary engine tools
- Independently troubleshoot and resolve animation issues
- Use motion capture data and hand-key animation to create believable characters
- Create hero traversal, combat, boss, gameplay camera cinematography, mission, and open-world animations
- Work with the Animation team to ensure cohesive execution of animation direction across the game
- Provide constructive feedback to the Animation team
- Communicate with Designers, Programmers, Writers, Project Managers, Art, Audio, Character, and Rigging teams to resolve issues and achieve project goals
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements:
- Advanced knowledge of Maya
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of common state machine flow in any game engine required
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts and apply basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to utilize motion capture data and hand key animation
- MotionBuilder and Adobe Premiere a plus
- Insomniac proprietary tools preferred
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
