Job Description

Linux System Administrator maintaining and deploying Linux systems for GDIT. Responsible for system integrity, security, and support for IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, manage, and deploy Linux systems in compliance with company standards.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system problems.
  • Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems.
  • Evaluate and assess server security compliance and employ mitigations.
  • Support all Security and SOX compliance configurations.
  • Plans and directs upgrades of operating systems, patches, and systems enhancements.
  • Sets up end user and service accounts.
  • Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
  • Oracle and Azure Cloud server build/maintenance.
  • Prepares and maintains documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects.
  • Provides guidance and work leadership to less experienced administrators, and end users as required.
  • Participates in special projects as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Computer Science plus 5 yrs of related experience; OR 8+ years of related experience in lieu of Bachelor's
  • US Person Required
  • Demonstrated Operations experience with Linux platform (i.e. RHEL, Oracle Enterprise) including administration, management, performance monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Experience with CLOUD platforms (e.g. Azure, OCI)
  • Experience with patching, Repo servers and maintaining server builds
  • Experience with backup systems and snapshots
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware/software issues, restore the environment to an operational state with minimal downtime, perform root cause analysis and provide a forward leaning mitigation strategy
  • Ability to create/maintain/troubleshoot basic Linux scripts.
  • Desired Technical Skills: Oracle, Linux or Redhat Certification
  • Understanding of proactive monitoring concepts
  • Ability to to make recommendations to improve our Linux environment
  • Experience with VMware virtual environment.
  • Experience with CLOUD platforms (e.g. Azure, OCI)
