Job Description

Senior Loan Officer expanding affordable housing lending for Housing Partnership Network. Building borrower relationships, structuring transactions, and advancing mission-driven community development.

Responsibilities:

  • Build trusted relationships with current and prospective Housing Partnership Network member-borrowers
  • Develop and execute outreach strategies and track activity in Salesforce
  • Strengthen existing relationships and expand HPN’s lending presence
  • Represent HPN at member conferences, Strength Matters, site visits, and other events
  • Coordinate CRM activities for the team and collaborate with outreach professionals
  • Conduct initial underwriting for affordable housing commercial real estate transactions
  • Recommend transaction terms and credit structures to the Director of Lending
  • Perform financial analysis, due diligence, feasibility assessment, and early borrower/project risk evaluation
  • Prepare and finalize term sheets
  • Determine deal structures that maximize financial return and mission impact
  • Provide clients with formal-underwriting preparation checklists
  • Coordinate handoffs to underwriters after the term-sheet stage
  • Support loan policy updates and credit memorandum template improvements
  • Provide lending updates for website, marketing materials, and communications
  • Support portfolio and workout matters with Asset Management
  • Assist with investor applications and member surveys

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as business, finance, real estate, urban planning, or business development required
  • Two to eight years of experience in commercial real estate lending focused on affordable housing
  • Experience in roles such as business development officer, credit underwriter, or loan officer
  • Experience preferably with a CDFI or similar organization
  • Ability to manage borrower relationships with a customer-centered approach
  • Proven lending track record, including meeting production goals and disciplined use of sales tools
  • Experience with credit analysis and preparing term sheets for underwriting
  • Strong sales and business development skills
  • Strong financial analysis skills, especially evaluating nonprofit developers and real estate development feasibility
  • Knowledge of public and private capital sources supporting affordable housing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong working knowledge of Salesforce
