Job Description

Senior Mechanical Designer producing 3D models, piping, and construction documents for KFI Engineers’ central-energy infrastructure projects. Leading design coordination, field work, mentoring, and project execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce AutoCAD, Plant 3D, and Revit drawings
  • Produce quality construction documents and coordinate design work with other engineering disciplines
  • Create industrial project drawings, including General Arrangements, PIDs, 3D models, piping, and isometrics
  • Design complete systems for assigned projects and manage drawing document preparation
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and provide technical support and work direction
  • Manage client relationships
  • Schedule and lead design meetings and drawing reviews
  • Represent KFI at project meetings
  • Plan and execute field work and job-site visits
  • Estimate project hours and scope of work
  • Contribute to project budgets and schedules
  • Mentor, guide, and provide on-the-job training to junior designers
  • Lead projects from inception to completion and contribute to project management
  • Maintain a proactive approach and improve processes and technical skills
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • AAS Degree in design/drafting or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 10+ years of design experience
  • Expertise in 3D design, mechanical general arrangements, piping systems, and piping and instrumentation diagrams
  • Experience reviewing mechanical equipment drawings
  • Demonstrated excellence in sophisticated layouts, measuring, technical knowledge of systems and codes
  • Ability to complete contract plans for small or large mechanical projects
  • Ability to independently perform design tasks not requiring engineering professional judgment
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work independently on complex projects
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to guide and develop junior team members
  • Proficiency with computer technology and business software, including Microsoft Office
  • May include up to 10% domestic travel
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Plant 3D and/or Revit preferred
  • 3+ years of industrial plant design experience preferred
  • Position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship
