Job Description
Part-time OT/ICS cybersecurity architect supporting Peraton’s federal critical-infrastructure modernization program. Evaluating security products, defining requirements, and guiding procurement recommendations.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to end-to-end solutions analysis for modernization-program workstreams
- Elicit and validate requirements and help produce System Requirements Specifications with traceability to NERC CIP, FISMA, and CISA Zero Trust Architecture
- Conduct market research to identify candidate commercial products for identity/access control, network monitoring, threat visibility, and inventory/configuration/vulnerability management
- Draft Requests for Information, review vendor responses, and participate in technical bidder engagements under federal market-research guardrails
- Assess vendor responses and product capabilities against requirements
- Contribute to comparison reports and down-select recommendations
- Help design lab test environments and test plans
- Participate in product demonstrations and evaluations at customer and Peraton Labs facilities
- Co-author Alternative Solutions Analysis documents
- Support steering-committee and executive briefings
- Bring operational-technology and enterprise-IT cybersecurity perspective to requirements-alignment workshops
Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust determination and PIV credential
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related technical discipline, and 8+ years of progressive systems architecture, cyber engineering, or grid operations engineering experience; 12 years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree
- Hands-on experience across both OT/ICS and enterprise IT security environments
- Direct hands-on OT/ICS cybersecurity experience inside a bulk-electric-system operating environment as a full-time technical contributor accountable for production operations
- Hands-on experience applying NERC CIP standards (CIP-002 through CIP-014) inside a bulk-electric-system operating environment
- Strong technical writing and stakeholder-communication skills
- Availability for approximately 20 hours per week with flexibility around program milestones
- Ability to travel domestically up to 25%, including routine trips to the Pacific Northwest
- Background check, PIV credential, and customer-required training before unescorted facility access
- Familiarity with FISMA controls and CISA Zero Trust Architecture mappings
- Experience with grid-operations technology, Balancing Authority operations, Western energy markets, DOE CESER programs, national-lab collaborations, stakeholder engagement, IAM, network detection, packet capture, data diodes, cyber-asset/configuration management, vulnerability and patch management, PAM, log and traffic monitoring, configuration management, formal alternatives analyses, executive presentations, and federal market-research guardrails
- Industry certifications such as GICSP, CISSP, GRID, CISA, or NERC-CIP-focused credentials are desired
