Job Description

Senior Medical Science Liaison advancing Alcon’s eye-care products through scientific exchange and clinical research. Remote U.S. role covering Illinois, Maryland, New York, and Pennsylvania with 75% travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Present scientific and clinical information on Alcon products
  • Gather external insights to influence company strategies
  • Develop and maintain peer-to-peer relationships with medical experts and key opinion leaders
  • Support development and adoption of Alcon products through evidence-based scientific exchange
  • Provide general medical information to practitioners and Alcon associates
  • Respond to unsolicited requests for medical information
  • Engage in scientific discussions about Alcon product data
  • Implement medical projects and navigate investigator trials from inception to publication
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of Alcon products and current medical/scientific research
  • Work with Med Info and Med Safety to resolve escalated product complaints and medical safety issues
  • Participate in adverse event reporting and safety responsibility monitoring
  • Direct phase III and IV human clinical trials, monitor protocol adherence, and determine study completion
  • Provide reporting information for regulatory agency submissions
  • Serve as medical consultant to marketing, commercial, research, and regulatory teams
  • Act as consultant/liaison with corporations under licensing agreements
  • Sign off on product safety reviews
  • Interface with Medical Affairs and departments including Commercial, Quality Assurance, Research and Development, Regulatory Affairs, and Market Access
  • Follow GxP regulations, SOPs, documentation, quality control, and required training requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of directly related experience
  • Alternative qualification: high school plus 15 years of directly related experience
  • Alternative qualification: associate degree plus 11 years of directly related experience
  • Alternative qualification: M.S. plus 4 years of directly related experience
  • Alternative qualification: PhD plus 3 years of directly related experience
  • 7 years of relevant experience
  • Fluency in reading, writing, understanding, and communicating in English
  • Ability to travel 75%
  • Knowledge of GxP regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Compliance with applicable laws, industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements
