Job Description
Process Controls Engineer leading controls, equipment scale-up, and chemical refining development. Advancing Mariana Minerals’ software-driven critical-minerals supply chain and plant automation.
Responsibilities:
- Lead development and deployment of chemical refining processes
- Develop software for capital project execution and automated plant optimization
- Lead equipment and plant-wide controls infrastructure and programming scopes from concept through design, installation, commissioning, ramp, and handover to operations
- Support the buildout of an in-house engineering team
- Develop standards for controls programming
- Lead equipment scopes through modeling validation, procurement, engineering, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and ramp
- Manage external equipment providers, technology licensors, and engineering companies
- Drive cross-functional teams to scale up equipment and de-risk commercialization of novel mineral refining processes
- Support hiring, mentorship, and day-to-day management of junior process engineers
- Develop technoeconomic models for project opportunities, acquisition targets, and new technologies
- Prepare and present bankable engineering deliverables for project financing due diligence
- Identify, evaluate, and implement process engineering and project management software tools
- Support software and machine learning automation of capital project workflows and advanced plant control algorithms
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and ability to solve challenging problems
- Experience with equipment engineering and design
- Experience with brownfield equipment modifications and upgrades
- Experience with greenfield equipment design
- Experience evaluating and optimizing operating equipment
- Experience in industrial manufacturing, large-scale mining or mineral processing, large-scale chemical production processes, or engineering, procurement, and construction firms
- Experience with direct or indirect leadership of engineers and technicians
- Experience managing and executing medium- to large-scale capital projects exceeding $5M
