Job Description
Senior Project Engineer managing renewable energy projects for Trail Ridge Power. Overseeing engineering workflow, collaborating with partners, and contributing to energy design solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Manage internal engineering workflow and diligence for project acquisitions
- Contribute to design and engineering of renewable energy and cleantech projects
- Oversee full project life cycle, managing third party consulting engineers and working with engineering partners to develop preliminary and final engineering plans to internal standards
- Oversee contracted engineering firms and partner EPC’s as the “Owner’s engineer”
- Enforce design and engineering equipment and construction standards
- Collaborate with development and finance to assess potential projects’ feasibility and construction complexity, and find innovative solutions to reduce project cost
- Provide technical guidance and support on matters relating to solar technology, focusing on rooftop, ground-mounted fixed-tilt and single-axis tracker systems
- Review project deliverables to ensure all local and national code, utility interconnection requirements, and client requests are met, along with SOW items per contract
- Conduct, coordinate, and review energy production estimates using PVsyst and Helioscope
- Travel for work up to 30% as needed and depending on base location
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required; master’s degree is preferred
- 7+ years of renewable energy experience with 5+ years in Rooftop Solar PV systems and small (1-10MW) ground-mount systems
- A creative and entrepreneurial approach to solving energy/carbon use optimization problems
- Experience managing a large portfolio of projects while prioritizing effectively, managing competing expectations, and meeting deadlines
- Experience with PV design tools including Helioscope, PVSyst, and AutoCAD
- Proficient with Procore, project management, energy modeling, and MS office tools
- Experience with energy efficiency, CHP, fuel cells, or other carbon reduction technologies would be a plus, but not required
- Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills
- PE in electrical, mechanical, or civil preferred.
