Job Description
Senior QA Engineer owning Playwright/TypeScript automation and end-to-end quality for Aphex’s construction planning platform. Embedding with product teams to deliver reliable releases.
Responsibilities:
- Own quality end-to-end for a product area from ideation and refinement through development, release sign-off, and post-release production verification
- Shape clear, testable acceptance criteria and surface risks before coding
- Own and extend the Playwright/TypeScript E2E automation suite using Page Object Model, per-worker isolation, and seeded test data
- Diagnose and eliminate flaky tests using traces, videos, and network/console logs
- Read application source code to identify failure causes
- Review automation pull requests and uphold maintainability standards
- Combine exploratory/manual testing with automation based on risk and value
- Partner with engineers and product managers in an Agile workflow
- Raise well-evidenced defects and distinguish product bugs from test artifacts
- Verify releases in production, monitor regressions, and feed findings back to the team
- Maintain GitHub Actions CI, Qase test reporting, and test-data/seeding infrastructure
- Build scalable systems and deterministic quality gates
- Take ideas from concept through independent end-to-end implementation
Requirements:
- 5+ years in software QA, with substantial hands-on E2E UI automation
- Strong with a modern E2E framework — Playwright preferred; Cypress/Selenium transferable — and JavaScript/TypeScript
- Page Object Model and test-architecture experience
- Demonstrable flaky-test remediation
- Comfortable reading application code, including front-end and enough back-end to trace failures
- CI/CD and Git PR workflow experience, including GitHub Actions or equivalent
- Confident debugging from CI artifacts
- Clear, evidence-based written communication
- Embedded-QA mindset and ownership of quality across the whole lifecycle
- Experience with test-management tooling such as Qase/TestRail is nice to have
- Experience with parallelism, isolation, and seeded/cloned fixtures is nice to have
- Experience with complex, stateful SPA UIs and authentication flows is nice to have
- Experience standing up or maturing a QA function is nice to have
- Construction-tech or complex B2B SaaS domain exposure is nice to have
