Job Description

SEO Strategy Manager overseeing SEO Strategists to drive local SEO success for clients. At Olly Olly, you'll blend technology and expertise to empower small businesses.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of 6-10 SEO Strategists across multiple time zones
  • Conduct regular 1:1s focused on strategic problem-solving coaching —helping strategists level up their diagnostic skills and business thinking
  • Review complex strategies before client delivery, serving as the "does this logic hold up?" quality gate
  • Identify knowledge gaps and create learning programs that deepen team expertise (technical SEO, competitive intelligence, vertical-specific strategies)
  • Own the quality of strategy output across Strategic/Elite accounts—ensuring recommendations are sound, achievable, and ROI-positive
  • Serve as escalation point for the hardest SEO problems: algorithm volatility, technical mysteries, competitive impasses
  • Monitor portfolio performance metrics (rankings, traffic, conversions) and identify patterns that inform team approach

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of advanced SEO strategy experience where you owned complex, high-stakes client outcomes
  • 2+ years of wordpress experience is required (SEO plugins, Navigating CMS for website changes)
  • Deep expertise in technical SEO (site architecture, JavaScript rendering, Core Web Vitals, schema, log analysis)—you can troubleshoot at the code level
  • Proven track record of diagnosing and solving non-obvious ranking problems that stump other strategists
  • Strong understanding of competitive intelligence: reverse-engineering what's actually working, not just what tools report
  • Experience across multiple verticals with understanding of how local SEO strategy differs by industry
  • Comfort with AI-augmented workflows (Claude, ChatGPT) but you know when human judgment should override AI recommendations
  • 2-3+ years managing SEO strategists, specialists, or senior analysts (ideally in agency or multi-client environments)
  • Experience with task management, workflow management systems (Jira, Zendesk, Freshdesk or a similar system)
  • Track record of developing people's strategic thinking abilities, not just their task completion
  • Experience managing remote/distributed teams with different cultural backgrounds and communication styles
  • Comfort with coaching through ambiguity—helping team members think through problems without giving them the answer
