Job Description
SDET automating tests for Dotmatics’ LUMA scientific software platform. Maintaining Cypress and TypeScript coverage while collaborating with developers, scientists, and DevOps.
Responsibilities:
- Join an agile engineering team building quality into LUMA, Dotmatics' scientific software platform
- Take ownership of testing for a specific application module
- Write, maintain, and extend automated test suites using Cucumber, TypeScript, Cypress, and Playwright where applicable
- Contribute test scenarios during planning and test stories as they are built
- Provide the team with a clear picture of release readiness
- Design and document functional, regression, and integration test cases
- Investigate and reproduce defects, raise evidence-based bug reports in JIRA, and verify fixes with developers and scientists
- Maintain reliable tests in CI pipelines and help improve test execution and reporting
- Read and interpret API documentation and create meaningful automated coverage
- Perform manual exploratory testing for early-stage features and scientifically complex areas
- Collaborate with developers, application scientists, DevOps engineers, product management, and test automation experts
Requirements:
- 2–5 years' experience in QA/testing
- At least 1 year of hands-on test automation experience
- Practical experience with Cypress, including selectors, custom commands, debugging failures, and existing Page Object Models
- Working knowledge of TypeScript or JavaScript, including promises and async/await
- Experience with BDD/Cucumber or willingness to learn quickly
- Test case design and documentation skills
- Comfort with Git and GitHub, including branching, pull requests, and code review
- Experience working in JIRA or a similar tracking system
- Ability to work carefully, pay attention to detail, understand stories or modules, and devise concrete testing approaches
- Willingness to receive feedback, learn, and grow into a senior automation engineer
