Job Description
Software Engineer building React/TypeScript tools that help multilingual learners access rigorous classroom content. Extending Medley Learning’s Chrome extension, web apps, and AI-powered instructional supports.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and ship features in the React/TypeScript Chrome extension and web apps
- Build fast, accessible, polished, and resilient interfaces for third-party pages
- Partner on UI/UX design, including wireframes, interaction patterns, and visual polish
- Contribute to data models and APIs using Node.js and MongoDB
- Expand support across websites, learning platforms, Google Workspace tools, and PDF-based materials
- Support interfaces and data used to evaluate and improve AI-generated scaffolds
- Contribute to privacy, security, and reliability as the product scales
- Work directly with the Head of Engineering and a small senior team
- Take ownership, solve problems independently, and help shape engineering culture
Requirements:
- Strong React and TypeScript skills; production front-end experience
- Component design, state management, and performance knowledge
- Comfortable reading and writing backend code
- Systems thinking about data modeling, storage, and data flow
- UI/UX design sensibility and ability to contribute to interface decisions
- Product mindset and ability to think beyond individual tickets
- Practical, resourceful, execution-oriented approach
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical teammates, including educators
- Comfortable with ambiguity and wearing multiple hats
- Chrome extension or browser-platform experience is nice to have
- Experience with Node.js, MongoDB, and AWS is nice to have
- Familiarity with Figma or similar design tools is nice to have
- Experience building accessible interfaces is nice to have
- Experience with LLM APIs or AI-powered products is nice to have
- Empathy for education, accessibility, multilingual learners, or special education is nice to have
- Must answer whether United States work-authorization sponsorship will be required now or in the future
