Job Description
Nuclear experts red-teaming Mercor’s frontier AI models for misuse safety. Writing domain prompts, evaluating responses, and explaining safeguards reasoning.
Responsibilities:
- Write challenging single-turn prompts in the nuclear domain across benign, dual-use, and adversarial levels
- Evaluate AI model responses against a defined policy standard
- Judge whether responses handled technical requests correctly
- Write reference answers describing correct responses and the technical reasoning behind them
- Explain judgments in writing so non-specialists can follow
- Read and write about misuse scenarios for sustained periods
- Participate in advance briefing about misuse-related content
Requirements:
- Fuel-cycle depth plus exposure to how material is controlled, accounted for, or diverted
- Safeguards and nonproliferation experience strongly preferred
- Relevant backgrounds include Safeguards Analyst / IAEA or Euratom Inspector; Nuclear Engineer, Fuel Cycle; Nuclear Security Engineer; Nuclear Forensics Scientist; or Nonproliferation Analyst
- Prior technical writing, published research, or expert witness experience is a strong signal
- Ability to write challenging single-turn prompts labelled benign, dual-use, and adversarial
- Ability to evaluate AI responses against a defined policy standard
- Ability to write reference answers and technical reasoning understandable to non-specialists
- Must not draw on classified or export-controlled information, NDA-covered information, or material subject to prepublication review
- Must disclose such obligations so work can be scoped accordingly
- Include a technical writing sample or link in the application
