Job Description

Software Quality Assurance Engineer ensuring quality, reliability, and compliance of innovative software solutions for scientific discovery at Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and test cases for complex software systems.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve automated test frameworks and automated regression test suites.
  • Perform functional, integration, system, exploratory, regression, API, database, and end-to-end testing.
  • Identify, document, prioritize, and help drive resolution of software defects through effective collaboration with development teams.
  • Analyze test results, identify root causes of quality issues, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to ensure quality is built into every stage of the software development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines by integrating automated testing into deployment workflows.
  • Develop meaningful quality metrics, test reports, and release readiness assessments to support informed decision-making.
  • Support software verification and validation activities for regulated products, ensuring compliance with applicable quality and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in risk assessments, design reviews, and technical discussions to proactively identify quality risks.
  • Mentor junior QA engineers and promote software quality best practices across development teams.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging testing technologies and recommend improvements to testing processes, tools, and automation capabilities.

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Software Quality Assurance or Software Testing.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • ISTQB or equivalent software testing certification is considered an advantage.
  • Strong experience with manual and automated software testing methodologies.
  • Experience with one or more test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or Tricentis Tosca.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages, such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
  • Experience testing REST APIs, backend services, databases, and distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps Test Plans, ALM/Quality Center, or qTest.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure), containerized applications, and microservices architectures.
  • Knowledge of software verification and validation practices within regulated environments, including GxP, FDA, or ISO-compliant development processes.
  • Experience with performance and load testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner is desirable.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary and globally distributed teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, lead testing initiatives, and influence quality practices without direct authority.
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to collaborate effectively across multiple time zones.
