Job Description

Staff Accountant supporting SCS Global Services, a sustainability standards and third-party certification organization. Preparing reconciliations, reports, journal entries, and month-end close activities remotely.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting analysis for cash, prepaid expenses, revenue recognition, and accruals
  • Review accounting transactions for accuracy and completeness
  • Maintain and produce regular financial reports for management and business partners
  • Improve data quality, collection processes, and report design
  • Provide accounting policy guidance and interpretation
  • Support internal controls and implementation of new policies and procedures
  • Maintain detailed accounting documentation for legal, regulatory, and audit requirements
  • Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, audits, financial reporting, special projects, and ad hoc analysis
  • Research and evaluate accounting issues
  • Participate in financial model development, data evaluation, results analysis, and recommendations
  • Research, design, and document financial procedures and systems
  • Serve as a liaison to business partners and provide issue resolution
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with business partners
  • Direct the work of Junior Accountants as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years of experience performing reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, depreciation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and managerial and financial report preparation
  • 2+ years of progressive Accounting experience
  • Strong desire to be a trusted financial partner delivering quality financial reporting
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to serve as a liaison to business partners and provide issue resolution
  • High degree of initiative to identify and correct errors and improve processes
  • Attention to detail with a desire for continuous improvement and learning
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the company
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience in ERP preferred
