Job Description

Technical Data Leader at Gedanken leading the data strategy in a complex B2B environment. Building foundations for data maturity and governance in the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and evolve the data vision and strategy aligned with business, product and technology goals.
  • Act as the main technical and strategic reference for data, connecting business needs to scalable and sustainable solutions.
  • Build solid data foundations in a context that is still being structured, with a long-term and reliability-focused perspective.
  • Lead the evolution of data architecture in cloud environments, including analytical and transactional databases (e.g., AlloyDB).
  • Design and implement data ingestion, transformation and consumption pipelines.
  • Integrate and orchestrate multiple external sources, APIs, partners, vendors and legacy systems.
  • Define modeling standards, analytical layers, metrics and shared semantics.
  • Ensure data quality, security, traceability and consistency throughout the entire lifecycle.
  • Establish analytics practices that support product, business, operations and strategic decisions.
  • Ensure that metrics, dashboards and analyses are reliable, actionable and understandable across different teams.
  • Work closely with leadership to turn data into relevant insights and real impact.
  • Define governance, quality, access, security and compliance policies appropriate for a B2B context.
  • Promote conscious and correct use of data, supporting teams in reading and interpreting information.
  • Balance speed and rigor, ensuring data accessibility without compromising control and reliability.
  • Structure and develop the data team, defining roles, responsibilities and operating model.
  • Act as a hands-on leader, supporting the technical and professional growth of team members.
  • Lead hiring, onboarding and the area’s growth as the company evolves.
  • Work in an integrated way with Product, Engineering, Operations, Design and Sales.
  • Act as a strategic partner to leadership, translating business questions into data-driven solutions.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences, including executive leadership.

Requirements:

  • Solid experience in data, analytics or data engineering in complex, business-oriented environments.
  • Previous experience leading data teams or strong technical-strategic ownership.
  • Experience with cloud data architecture, relational and analytic databases (AlloyDB or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of data integration, pipelines, modeling, quality and governance.
  • Experience with multiple external data sources and B2B ecosystems.
  • Builder mindset, with the ability to operate in contexts still under development.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and influencing skills.
  • Preferred: interest or experience with AI and automation applied to data, analytics and decision support.
