Job Description
Video editing professional creating realistic post-production tasks and reference edits. Mercor uses human expertise to train and evaluate frontier AI systems.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute original footage personally shot and fully owned, or source openly licensed footage
- Author realistic editing briefs from the footage
- Build post-production tasks end to end in personal editing software
- Cut footage and introduce defects or distractors when required
- Produce reference edits against which correct results are judged
- Write concrete, checkable grading criteria and explain the editorial reasoning
- Blind-solve tasks created by other editors
- Write step-by-step solutions
- Work on projects focused on training and enhancing AI systems
Requirements:
- 5+ years editing professionally in film and TV, commercials, broadcast news, or creator and social production
- Own deliverables end to end
- Fluent in at least one professional editor: Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or Avid Media Composer
- Basic color and audio cleanup skills
- Comfortable with delivery specifications including resolution, frame rate, codecs, audio channel layouts, and frame-accurate cuts
- Strong plus: library of unpublished original footage personally shot and fully owned
- People appearing in footage must be willing to sign an appearance release
- Submit a resume and a link to a reel or portfolio
- Complete a short AI interview about editing background
- Answer questions about available footage, ownership, and consent for use
- Not open to residents of California
- Must be able to work approximately 12 hours per week
- Must be engaged as an independent contractor
- H-1B and STEM OPT candidates are not supported
