Job Description

Web WordPress Developer responsible for creating and maintaining websites for Otte Polo Group. Involves collaborating on page designs and optimizing WordPress functionality while working remotely.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain website pages using Elementor Pro, including sections, templates, and dynamic content elements.
  • Develop and modify WordPress themes (child and custom) to support design and functionality requirements.
  • Create and maintain basic WordPress plugins, including custom post types, taxonomies, shortcodes, widgets, and simple mu-plugins.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve layout, functionality, and performance issues using browser DevTools and WordPress debugging techniques.
  • Collaborate with the team to implement designs (PSD to WordPress) while ensuring consistency with existing code structure and functionality.
  • Test all changes before deployment, follow coding standards, and document non-obvious decisions while proactively communicating blockers.

Requirements:

  • WordPress (1-2 years)
  • Experience creating and modifying child themes and custom themes from scratch
  • Basic plugin development: registering custom post types, taxonomies, shortcodes, widgets, and settings pages
  • Must-use plugin (mu-plugin) development: understanding when and why to use mu-plugins, writing small utilities that load automatically
  • Ability to work with WordPress hooks system (add_action, add_filter, remove_action)
  • Proficient with Elementor Pro page builder: building pages, sections, columns, and widgets.
  • Experience creating Elementor Theme Builder templates (headers, footers, archive pages, single posts).
  • Ability to write custom CSS within Elementor sections and widgets.
  • Understanding of how to extend Elementor via custom widgets (PHP-based).
  • Familiarity with Dynamic Tags and conditions in Elementor Pro.
  • Awareness of Elementor's impact on page performance and how to mitigate it.
  • Basic FTP/SFTP and cPanel/hosting panel usage.
  • Familiarity with browser DevTools for debugging layout and JavaScript issues.
  • Comfortable working with page builders alongside custom code without breaking existing functionality.
  • Ability to follow existing code conventions and documentation.
  • Communicates blockers and asks for help before spending too long stuck.
  • Tests changes before pushing to production.
  • Writes brief notes or comments for non-obvious code decisions.
