Job Description

Remote PWP or Dietitian assessing obesity patients for Second Nature’s digital NHS weight-management service. Determining intervention pathways within a multidisciplinary specialist weight-management team.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients entering the Specialist Weight Management Service and determine suitable intervention pathways
  • Conduct assessments via video call and gather detailed patient information to inform clinical decisions
  • Create individual formulations based on screening and assessment, clinical expertise, psychological theory, current research, and relevant guidelines such as NICE
  • Attend regular multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss assessments and monitor patient care
  • Attend clinical supervision with a Practitioner Psychologist regarding complex or high-risk cases
  • Manage clinical risk, including safeguarding concerns and risk of suicidal ideation/self-harm
  • Maintain confidentiality in line with the Data Protection Act
  • Independently manage patient assessment caseloads and escalate relevant issues to the MDT

Requirements:

  • Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) with BABCP/BPS registration, or HCPC registration as a Dietitian
  • Include BABCP, BPS or HCPC registration number in the application
  • Experience working in a weight management, bariatric, eating disorder, or mental health setting
  • Experience conducting initial assessments and consultations to determine intervention pathways
  • Experience conducting risk assessments for suicidal ideation/self-harm
  • Solid understanding of obesity and issues faced by people living with obesity, including weight stigma
  • Ability to provide supportive, empathetic, patient-centred care to patients with complex physical and mental health needs
  • Comfortable working fully remotely
  • Suitable home working setup, including a private space for confidential consultations and reliable internet
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with a doctor-led multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to manage an assessment caseload and escalate relevant issues to the MDT
  • Experience thriving in fast-paced environments and adapting to evolving service needs
  • Confidence using technology to provide patient care and record/review patient notes
