Job Description
Assistant Controller scaling accounting operations for Fenix24, a cybersecurity disaster recovery and restoration company. Leading close, controls, reporting, and a five-person accounting team.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, and manage a team of five accounting professionals
- Assess accounting processes, identify gaps and inefficiencies, and build scalable documented procedures
- Own month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation under US GAAP
- Improve Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll operations
- Optimize NetSuite, FloQast, and related automation tools
- Support multi-entity and intercompany accounting, including ASC 606 revenue recognition
- Monitor and report financial metrics such as DSO, aged payables, and cash flow indicators
- Design, document, and enforce internal controls and accounting policies
- Partner with Finance, Operations, and leadership on strategic initiatives and scaling
- Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, legal counsel, consultants, and other service providers
- Support ad-hoc projects, analysis, and leadership requests
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- CPA required or actively in progress, with current exam participation or a defined path to licensure
- Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience
- At least 3 years in a relevant management role
- Public accounting background with a Big 4 or regional firm is a plus
- Deep understanding of US GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition, multi-entity accounting, and intercompany eliminations
- Experience improving new or early-stage processes with measurable short-term impact
- Proven people leadership and team development experience
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with NetSuite and FloQast is a plus but not required
- Experience in IT services, managed services, or SaaS environments is preferred
