Job Description
Brand Protection Administrator handling trademark portfolios for clients at Stoel Rives. Assisting attorneys with trademark applications, searches, and office actions.
Responsibilities:
- Assist trademark attorneys in handling worldwide trademark portfolios and copyright matters
- Perform all billable non-attorney tasks relating to U.S. and worldwide trademark applications
- Summarize trademark office action issues and obtain attorney responses
- Conduct initial trademark searches and prepare draft search reports
- Assist with opposition, cancellation, and appeals filings
- Review and manage brand portfolio due dates and ensure timely responses
- Prepare copyright applications and manage correspondence with foreign associates
- Assist with trademark litigation filings in federal and state courts (preferred, but not required)
- Learn and maintain knowledge of the patent and trademark docketing software program (Foundation IP)
Requirements:
- High school degree or equivalent required; college degree preferred
- Must have paralegal certificate in appropriate jurisdiction
- Minimum of 5+ years’ relevant experience as a trademark paralegal, at least 2 of which should be at a major law firm
- Additional trademark prosecution, docketing, and international portfolio management experience is welcome
- Strong aptitude for computer software application programs
- Experience with applicable software programs for carrying out trademark and copyright duties
- Comfortable using USPTO systems including TEAS, Trademark Center, and Assignment Center
- Familiarity with WIPO’s Madrid filing system is preferred
