Job Description
Remote certified payroll specialist reviewing prevailing-wage reports and subcontractor compliance for KOMAN construction projects. Resolving discrepancies and supporting audits, wage determinations, and government-funded work.
Responsibilities:
- Review and process certified payroll reports for government-funded and prevailing-wage construction projects
- Verify employee classifications, hours worked, base wages, fringe benefits, deductions, and gross wages against applicable wage determinations
- Ensure compliance with the Davis-Bacon Act, prevailing wage requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Review subcontractor certified payroll submissions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Identify, document, and resolve payroll discrepancies and wage compliance issues with subcontractors and internal teams
- Coordinate with Project Management, Payroll, Contract Compliance, and field personnel to obtain missing or corrected information
- Maintain organized and accurate certified payroll records, supporting documentation, and project compliance files
- Monitor project-specific wage determinations and contract requirements
- Assist with labor compliance audits, government inquiries, and internal compliance reviews
- Track outstanding certified payroll submissions and follow up with subcontractors to ensure timely compliance
- Assist with employee classification and prevailing wage determinations when needed
- Prepare compliance reports and documentation for management and project teams
- Stay current on changes to federal, state, and local prevailing wage and certified payroll requirements
- Perform other payroll, compliance, and administrative duties as assigned
- Work closely with Project Management, Payroll, Contract Compliance, project controls, field personnel, and subcontractors
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in certified payroll reporting, labor compliance, project controls or related field preferred
- Experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of the Davis-Bacon Act and federal prevailing wage requirements
- Construction industry experience preferred
- Strong understanding of payroll calculations, wage classifications, fringe benefits, and deductions
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work professionally and effectively with subcontractors, project managers, payroll personnel, and government agencies
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive payroll information
- Must have High School Diploma or GED
- Experience working with federal, state, or local government-funded construction projects preferred
- Experience with electronic certified payroll reporting systems preferred
- Experience reviewing subcontractor labor compliance documentation preferred
- Knowledge of construction job classifications and wage determinations preferred
- Ability to work Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with hours fluctuating to include evenings, nights, and weekends depending on project needs
- Local travel to construction worksites may be required
- Ability to perform the stated physical requirements, including occasionally lifting and/or moving objects up to 50 pounds
