Job Description
Certified Substance Abuse Counselor providing telehealth assessment and counseling services for substance use disorders in alignment with Hawaiʻi state standards.
Responsibilities:
- Provides client-centered assessment, counseling, and case management services for individuals with substance use disorders (SUD)
- Supports clients through telehealth by delivering evidence-based interventions
- Coordinates care, and promotes long-term recovery in alignment with Hawaiʻi state CSAC standards and UHP policies
- Works a minimum of 20 hours per week, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM based on client and program needs
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, or related field
- Current Hawaiʻi CSAC, CADC, LADC, SAP, or equivalent certification
- Experience in substance use treatment, behavioral health, or related human services
- Strong understanding of SUD treatment principles, recovery models, and community resources in Hawaiʻi
- Ability to conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR), telehealth platforms, and digital communication tools
- Excellent communication, motivational interviewing, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated cultural humility and commitment to equitable, patient-centered care
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team in a remote environment
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage a diverse caseload
- Knowledge of HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and confidentiality standards.
