Job Description

Commercial Application Engineer advancing adhesive technologies for Henkel’s industrial customers. Leading application engineering, laboratory equipment, innovation, and cross-regional commercialization projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute technically to market and application initiatives
  • Direct and deploy cross-functional teams to execute customer technical strategy, including product launches, complaint management, and new application development
  • Lead technically driven product development and innovation projects for portfolio gaps, applications, and markets
  • Develop technical capability standards and methods for new markets and applications
  • Own North American-sourced projects and direct global teams for cross-regional development and commercialization
  • Manage and maintain laboratory equipment and onsite safety protocols and procedures
  • Serve as the go-to expert for running, training, and maintaining product engineering laboratory equipment
  • Deliver AIB and SBU-based KSI targets, including NES, GP, and ROS
  • Provide direct Application Engineering support to proactively drive growth
  • Identify and address unmet needs at key accounts and regional/inside sales accounts with Sales
  • Support new opportunities from website inquiries and cold calls through technical support and solutions
  • Review development projects in the pipeline and ensure timely Application Engineering workstreams for customer and market projects
  • Support Business Development and Marketing efforts to deliver financial targets
  • Support, coach, and train new customer-facing applications team members and SBU resources
  • Develop industry impact and networks with OEMs, allied partners, and associations

Requirements:

  • Significant technical contribution to market and application initiatives
  • Experience or capability in application engineering, product development, innovation projects, customer technical support, and commercialization (not explicitly quantified)
  • Ability to direct cross-functional teams including Sales, Key Account Management, Business Development, Product Development, Operations, and laboratory personnel
  • Ability to develop technical capability standards and methods for new markets and applications
  • Ability to own North American-sourced projects and direct global teams for cross-regional development and commercialization
  • Ability to manage and maintain laboratory equipment and onsite safety protocols and procedures
  • Ability to run, train others on, and maintain product engineering laboratory equipment
  • Ability to identify and address unmet customer and market needs
  • Ability to support Smart Surfaces, Smart Healthcare, Antenna, and Energy Storage initiatives
  • Ability to coach and train customer-facing applications team members and SBU resources
  • Ability to develop industry networks with OEMs, allied partners, and associations
