Job Description
Consultant pharmacist reviewing medication regimens and regulatory compliance for North Carolina nursing facilities. Producing monthly reports, educating staff, and traveling between facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patients’/clients’ drug regimen reviews in nursing facilities to assure appropriate drug therapy
- Monitor facility compliance with Federal and State guidelines and note irregularities
- Provide information regarding medication and Federal and State pharmacy regulations
- Act as liaison between the pharmacy and facility to resolve problems
- Educate nurses about facility problem areas and staff-interest topics
- Attend facility, pharmacy, infection control, quality assurance, and interdisciplinary team meetings
- Review physician orders for appropriate action, dosage, potential interactions, administration, and stability
- Assist in training and supervising pharmacy technicians, interns, and externs
- Produce monthly written reports of findings and recommendations for facility administrators, DONs, and medical directors/physicians
- Maintain seizure and drug problem notice files
- Reconcile controlled drugs and audit patient charts
- Perform other assigned essential functions and duties
Requirements:
- BS/PharmD degree in pharmacy required
- Pharmacist License required
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- 2+ years of related experience, preferably in LTC or high-volume pharmacy
- Advanced computer skills; pharmacy operations system experience required
- Ability to work independently and deliver to deadlines
- Ability to solve problems with minimal direction
- Great attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment working on multiple tasks simultaneously, while adhering to strict deadlines
- Quality minded; motivated to seek out errors and inquire when something appears inaccurate
- Requires up to 90% travel
