Job Description
GMC-registered Consultant Psychiatrist conducting remote CBMP assessments and prescribing for enua’s UK medical cannabis clinic. Supporting evidence-led governance, outcomes, and potential Medical Director development.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct video-based psychiatric consultations for patients exploring CBMP treatment, including new assessments and ongoing reviews
- Make evidence-led prescribing decisions within the clinical governance framework
- Collaborate with pharmacists and nurses in a multidisciplinary team
- Participate in clinical outcome data collection and build the UK evidence base for CBMPs in psychiatry
- Contribute to clinical governance, MDT meetings, and continuous improvement of prescribing protocols
- For senior candidates, contribute to or lead Medical Director-level governance, prescribing policy, and clinical strategy
- Complete clinical induction, including observing three MDT meetings and shadowing three full patient consultations
- Participate in high-risk and 18–24-year-old patient registers and apply enhanced monitoring protocols
- Obtain informed consent and assess mental capacity under the Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Prescribe using independent clinical judgment without volume, revenue, or product-selection targets
- Participate in monthly clinical audits
- Maintain GMC revalidation and good standing and report registration changes
Requirements:
- Full GMC Registration with a license to practise in the UK
- Completion of Specialist Training (CCT/CCST) or equivalent certification
- On the GMC Specialist Register for Psychiatry
- Genuine interest in alternative therapies and the evolving evidence base around CBMPs
- Comfortable working in a digital-first, telemedicine setting
- Willingness to participate in structured data collection and outcome reporting
- Completion of mandatory training before patient-facing duties, including role-specific modules and annual or triennial refreshers
- Report incidents and significant events through the incident reporting process
- Comply with patient confidentiality and information governance requirements
- Enhanced DBS check completed prior to commencement
- Prior CBMP experience or willingness to complete a recognised Medical Cannabis Course for Specialist Physicians (preferred)
- Experience in private clinic, telemedicine, or digital health environments (preferred)
- Interest in a Medical Director track or shaping clinical pathways (preferred)
