Job Description
Corporate Counsel providing legal guidance on reinsurance transactions and contracts. Advising stakeholders and ensuring compliance in a global environment with strong technical knowledge.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as lead legal counsel on assumed and ceded reinsurance matters
- Draft, review, analyze, interpret, and negotiate treaty and retrocession contracts
- Advise on contract wording, allocation issues, coverage intent
- Partner with underwriting, claims, finance, and executive leadership
- Conduct legal research and monitor developments in reinsurance law
- Develop internal policies, playbooks, templates, and training materials
- Build strong relationships with brokers, reinsurers, and industry groups
- Leverage technology and process improvements
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to at least one U.S. state bar
- Extensive experience (5+ years) practicing law in reinsurance or insurance
- Experience with assumed and ceded reinsurance transactions
- Strong knowledge of insurance and reinsurance legal principles
