Job Description
Remote crop claims representative evaluating agricultural claims for Great American Insurance in Eastern South Dakota. Investigating fields, determining settlements, and traveling up to 40% within the territory.
Responsibilities:
- Manage an inventory of crop-related claims to evaluate compensability and liability
- Conduct claim investigations to confirm coverage and determine liability, compensability, and damages
- Perform crop field work and apply knowledge of grain marketing
- Determine and may negotiate appropriate claim settlements and reserves within prescribed authority
- Attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as needed
- Convey routine to moderately complex coverage and settlement information to insureds, claimants, and external partners
- Authorize payments within assigned authority limits and ensure timely payment
- Maintain accurate and detailed claim files, including correspondence, reports, and settlement agreements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Generally, a minimum of 6 months of experience in general agriculture, ag business/sales, agronomy, and/or grain merchandising
- Crop Insurance experience is highly favorable
- Ability to travel up to 40% within the territory
- Requires continuous and prolonged walking and standing
- Requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of objects up to 50 lbs.
- Requires frequent climbing, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling and crawling
- Requires overhead reaching and grabbing
- Requires regular and predictable attendance
- Requires ability to conduct visual inspections
- Requires work outdoors, in inclement weather conditions
- Requires frequent travel
- May require ability to operate a motor vehicle
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship
